Julie Cox, LCSW

Helping individuals and families find clarity, resilience, and lasting healing.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker • Trauma & PANDAS/PANS Specialist • Serving Clients Throughout New York State

I Believe Healing Begins with Feeling Understood

Whether you're healing from trauma or trying to support a child living with PANDAS/PANS, you're likely exhausted from trying to figure everything out on your own.

My role isn't to tell you what's wrong with you—it's to help you understand what's happening beneath the surface. Together, we'll make sense of overwhelming experiences, calm your nervous system, and build practical strategies that help you move forward with greater confidence and hope.

I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.

My Approach

No two people—and no two families—are exactly alike. That's why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

After more than 25 years in practice, I've learned that lasting healing happens when therapy is tailored to the person sitting in front of me. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels manageable, building on your strengths while helping you understand the patterns that have been keeping you stuck.

I combine warmth with evidence-based treatment, drawing from approaches that best fit your goals, including:

EMDR to help process trauma and distressing experiences

Internal Family Systems (IFS-Informed Therapy) to build self-understanding and resilience

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to strengthen emotional regulation

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and SPACE for anxiety and OCD

Collaborative Problem Solving to improve communication and reduce conflict at home

My goal isn't simply to reduce symptoms—it's to help you better understand yourself, feel more confident, and move through life with greater steadiness.

Why This Work Matters to Me

After more than 25 years as a therapist, what continues to inspire me is watching people discover that they aren't broken.

I've seen parents finally understand that their child's behaviors are rooted in brain-body distress—not bad parenting. I've watched trauma survivors realize that the ways they've coped for years were actually remarkable survival strategies.

Those moments—when fear begins to give way to understanding and hope—are why I continue to love this work.
