ABOUT JULIE COX, LCSW
Helping individuals and families find clarity, resilience, and lasting healing.
JULIE COX, TRAUMA AND PANDAS/PANS SPECIALIST | WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK
Let’s uncover what’s beneath the overwhelm and help you move forward with clarity and healing.
Whether you’re an adult carrying the weight of past trauma—or a parent trying to support your child through anxiety, OCD, or the unpredictable storms of PANDAS/PANS—you’re in the right place.
I help clients who feel trapped in survival mode—overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure what to do next—find their way toward steadier ground. Together, we’ll uncover what’s fueling the anxiety, fear, or reactivity and implement tools that restore calm, confidence, and healing.
MY APPROACH
What it’s like to work with me
There’s nothing one-size-fits-all about therapy. Each person and family I work with has their own story, strengths, and needs. My role is to meet you where you are—with respect, compassion, and strategies that fit your life.
I combine warmth and clinical expertise to help you feel safe enough to explore what’s happening beneath the surface—and supported enough to create real change.
My approach integrates evidence-based methods grounded in both neuroscience and lived human experience:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help your brain and body process trauma safely
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to strengthen emotional regulation and self-compassion
ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) for anxiety and OCD
Collaborative Problem Solving to improve communication and reduce power struggles at home
Each session moves at a pace that feels manageable and empowering—helping you build insight, healing, and hope along the way.
AM I THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR YOU?
We’re a good fit to work together if you’re looking for:
Evidence-based treatment for trauma, anxiety, or OCD
Support for your child or teen with PANDAS/PANS
A therapist who listens deeply and tailors our work to your goals
Parent guidance and tools that actually help at home
Therapy that blends compassion, neuroscience, and practical strategies
HOW I WORK
Methods & Modalities
With 25 years of experience, I bring both professional depth and grounded perspective to my work with children, teens, and adults. My training spans multiple modalities—including EMDR, CBT, DBT, ERP, SPACE, and Collaborative Problem Solving—allowing me to choose what best fits your needs.
Each of these therapies is evidence-based, meaning research consistently shows they’re effective for trauma, anxiety, and OCD. You’ll receive expert care from me in a warm, supportive environment where therapy feels collaborative—not clinical.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME
After decades in practice, I’ve seen how healing it is when someone begins to feel truly understood—when a parent realizes their child’s behaviors are rooted in brain-body distress, or when an adult survivor of trauma finally experiences calm after years of living in distress.
Healing looks different for everyone. For some, it’s finding peace after trauma. For others, it’s learning to navigate the ups and downs of PANDAS/PANS with more steadiness and hope. Helping people and families find that sense of relief and healing is the most meaningful part of what I do.
